Bible and Pastoral Ministry

This program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree.  Students will develop skills necessary to fulfill the functions of a pastor.

Objectives: 

The graduate who completes this program will:

  • Have the skills necessary for sound exegesis and interpretation of the English Bible.  These skills will include use of tools of the original languages.
  • Demonstrate an ability to preach and teach the Bible, theology, and the principles of Christian living.
  • Understand the nature, history, and strategic importance of the local church in evangelism and missionary activity, particularly of the Baptists.
  • Know how to organize, build and administer a local church, overseeing its ministries, worship, and ordinances.
  • Understand methods of counseling and ministering to the congregation.
  • Demonstrate ethical convictions and high standards of conduct.
  • Appreciate the ministry of the pastor as a high calling of God.
Requirements: 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • The core curriculum  (Delete BIB/THL Electives and 2 hours of Physical Education)

Bible/Theology - THL 3305, 3306/BIB 3205, 3206, 3300, 3303, 4303, 4306                                  
Language requirement - LNG 2301, 2302, 2303, 2304, 2305, or 2306 (6 hours only)
Church ministries - C M 2304, 2305 3301, 3303, 3304, 3306, 4200, 4201, 4201, 4203
General Education - HIS 3305 and 3306
Music requirement - MUS 1211
General Elective - 2 hours from any area

  • Fulfillment of all requirements in the Christian Service Program
  • Character and standard of conduct expected of a gospel minister
